Lions Clubs International
Lions Clubs International is the worlds largest service club organization with more than 1.3 million members, men and woman, in more than 45,000 clubs in more than 200 countries. Lions International began in 1917 by Chicago business leader Melvin Jones. In 1925 Helen Keller addressed the Lions Club International Convention in Cedar Point, Ohio and challenged the Lions to become “knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness.” Since then the Lions have been on a mission to prevent blindness and to aid the blind and visually impaired world wide along with those with hearing impairments.
